![]() ![]() So, combat, balancing and variety vastly improved with the second game, but there are indeed things that where better in the first game, like the design of the homestead for example, or the crafting system. When we originally reviewed Divinity: Original Sin nearly a year and a half ago, one thing was absolutely clear: this is the definitive modern title for those seeking a hardcore, old-school RPG. ![]() I really hoped they would do something similar like it in DoS:2 (Hall of Echoes as a homestead was even a stretch goal), but we just got some random ship which never felt like home like the End of Time it was just some empty space where you could drop your stuff before you sold it. I remember how exited I was every time another portal opened and I could explore another amazing new addition. I absolutely love that place, I have spend quite some time just wandering and enjoying the view there. ![]() It is not a soulless AAA game, it has it's flaws, but it is so very rewarding to play, you can feel the love they put into the game, and the MUSIC, oh my god.Īnd then there is the End Of Time, your home. You can just break ther game with the right (or wrong) build, in the original game even harder than in the Enhanced edition (40+ AP glass cannon, onehit lava pool spawns etc.)īut that is what makes the game so fun for me, at least. With the armor system you at leastknow if you'll get stunned certainly and not just maybe with a 5% chance if you are unlucky. Not only can players simply cheese fights (Drop resistance + soulsap, or just spam cc until it works), there was always a chance that your entire party just gets disabled before you can do anything about that thanks to RNG. Love or hate the armor system, but it prevents stunlocking. You have memory in DoS:2, a way better way to balance magic. slug), you have to invest 5 skill points for just a single master spell which feels way to expensive. some master spells are completely worthless (earth elemental vs. The spell schools are kind of unbalanced, e.g. Multiclassing isn't really a thing in DoS. If you don't invest some points in intelligence, even basic buffs like haste have a 20%chance to fail, while you could simply one-hit even the sturdiest enemies with high level magic. Magic, for example, was really only a mage thing. I think the combat in DoS:2 is better compared to the first game, classes are more balanced, more playstyles got viable. But I will try dos1 again at some point when I have the money. I refunded it as I intend to use the money to get KCD coming in a few days. I tried DOS1 for like 30 minutes, it never really clicked with me. I feel like if they did do a DOS3, they should combine the best of both games rather than go strictly with the DOS2 formula. ![]() I've been gaming for 30+ yrs and the game was definately in my top 10 PC games of all time (and trust me i'm very very very picky with my games!). After finishing the 2nd game I absoluetly praised it to all my friends! Thought it was one of the best CRPGs ever. Originally posted by TickleMeRifle:So i was one of those people who played DOS2 before actually playing DOS1. downing that armor in DOS2 (esp in tactician) seemed to be a bit of chore TBH. DOS2's combat was complex and strategic however DOS1's combat was more satisfying in that most of the effects just happened mostly immediately (with the exception of saving throws) without having to spend an eternity downing physical or magical armor. Not only that I'm a little conflicted about the combat that each game offers. Also the first seemed a lot more lighthearted, comedic and fun whereas the second seemed way too serious that it lost a bit of its charm. the story, crafting and sense of adventure was much better in the first. Suprisingly though.I'm actually enjoying the first game more than the 2nd! Whilst the inventory, UI, graphics, AI and voice acting were better in the 2nd. I didn't have high expectations mainly cos the 2nd game was so amazing that I didn't think the first could match it. Since I loved it so much I decided to take the dive and play the first. So i was one of those people who played DOS2 before actually playing DOS1. ![]()
